Today was Mother Nature’s version of cooperation. Her “north northeast” breeze had the valiant group of 17 sailors sailing off the far shore of Laurel Acres Park. It was a steady breeze somewhere in the zero to 20 range firmly out of somewhere between an easterly and westerly direction. Basically, it was typical Mount Laurel conditions. At least, while it wasn’t all that warm, it wasn’t all that cold either….and, no snow!!
Top man at this regatta year after year is Nick Mortgu, who takes care of all the swag and food. Coming in a close second in that department was Kevin MacClellan, who brought tee shirts for everyone.
For a racing format, we started with the CESS Pool for the first nine races and then changed to Line of Excellence for the afternoon. As a little twist, 360’s were replaced with a penalty mark that needed to be rounded for exoneration. The name for this mark vacillated between Mark of Shame and Mark of Honor.
This was a great celebration to end what has been a fantastic racing season. Thanks go to all the sailors for coming out today. Also, thanks to Skip, Dave and Jerry, who joined the race committee after deciding not to sail. Nick and I had a great time. It was almost worth coming home from Amsterdam for it. 😉 😀 We look forward to FYBOR 5.
