Wow!! 70 degrees, bright beautiful sunshine with a perfect 8 knots out of the northwest. Yes, that would have been great. However, it was misting rain most of the day and the breeze was fickle at best. The sailing and launch areas were quite sloppy. The term “quagmire” was used freely. No big deal, we had fun anyway.
Never was the FYBOR intended to be a serious competition. This year, we gave our 80-year-old skippers a 20% discount on their scores. The 70 year old skippers received a 10% discount. In the end, there we only two categories of scores that mattered: those with 11 points and those with more than 11.
Jamey Betz walked away the “winner” with, you guessed it, 11 points. He was followed by 20 others in second place with more than 11 points.
Nick did his normal awesome job providing swag for every skipper and cooking up his traditional chili lunch. Lisa continued her duty of baking cookies and brownies. Please don’t ask her if the oven is fixed yet. Thanks to Scott Todd for being dumb enough to come up from Cambridge just to help out.
A gathering of friends is always a great way to end a sailing season. Thanks guys, that was fun.
