A big thanks to all those that showed up and raced the 52th Liberty Bell Regatta with the Mid-Atlantic MYC this past weekend. We appreciate and enjoyed the great competition and comradery of the day at our annual event. Sunday morning it was cloudy, a little chilly with light winds when we gathered pre-racing at Laurel Acres Park. We started with a moment of silence to honor Dave Brawner. It would have been Dave Brawner’s 65th birthday on Sunday. By the time we started racing it was still cloudy and we had a decent breeze, with the normal Mount Laurel shifts. All day we had great racing conditions. We got in a total of 16 two and half lap races, allowing for two throw outs. Judy Bonanno did an outstanding job as Race Committee doing everything including, starts, finishes, electronic scoring and she even took some photos. She didn’t even have to keep anyone in line. (It is great when everyone behaves) Over all Dave Ramos was the Top Gun, winning the regatta and taking home the Liberty Bell Perpetual Trophy, with the next 4 positions being very competitively fought for by, Mark Reinhart, Stuart Challoner, Scott Graf, and Jarl Wathne. With the good winds we had a couple of breakdowns, two ripped sails and one de-masting, which is all part of racing. Overall, it was a fun day and for the last couple of races the sun finally came out, warming things up. We appreciate the participation of all those that showed up. If you couldn’t make it, you missed a good time and we will see you next time. Thanks, to those who helped with the dock, chase boat and buoys, we couldn’t have done it without you. Cape May Ray
